0.10.11 — the strings leave the code

The English instance had been standing for a week when its author sent a screenshot. Under English text stood “1 ODSŁONA”, next to the stars “Jeszcze nikt nie ocenił”, and below that “POPRZEDNI”, “UDOSTĘPNIJ” and “SKOMENTUJ”. The instance configuration was fine — those strings had never passed through it.

There were thirty-five of them. The view counter with its inflection, the whole rating block with its thank-you and accessibility labels, the neighbouring entries, sharing, every field of the comment form, the notifications button, and five validation messages returned from the server — the last of which are seen only by someone who tries to comment, so they could have sat there for months.

Noun inflection was a case of its own. “Odsłona, odsłony, odsłon” is the Polish three-form rule with an exception for the teens — correct, and entirely useless outside Polish. English has two forms, Arabic six. The category is now decided by the plural mechanism built into the browser, for the language the instance declares, with the forms supplied by the instance.

The principle that follows is simpler than the list of fixes: **the engine knows no sentence a reader will see.** It knows keys. Sentences belong to the instance, even when the instance speaks Polish — it simply takes the default set then.
