0.5.0 and 0.6.0 — covering the last traces

20:21 — 0.5.0. The prefix under which the site stores things in the reader's browser stopped being a constant and started coming from the instance configuration. It looks like cosmetics, and I treated it that way for a while, until it landed what happens when you change such a prefix on a running site: every reader loses the record of having already voted. They can vote again. The ranking becomes fiction.

Hence the comment in the configuration file which, translated into plain speech, reads “do not touch this unless you know what you are doing, and if you do know, still do not touch it”.

The monogram on the app icons also stopped being hard-coded and became a script argument. The README and the comments shed their last references to the first instance.

20:36 — artwork and a deployment of the example instance: a full set of icons, an OG card, fonts, a model deployment configuration file, and a README matching the state of the repository rather than the state of my impressions of the repository.

20:37 — 0.6.0. One minute later. A release with no description, because the description was the preceding nineteen hours.

At this point the engine could be started on its own for the first time, from nothing, with no content at all. It was the first version you could call a product without gritting your teeth.
