0.10.1 — a hidden series

Series stand in the navigation as equals, whether they hold two hundred entries or one. When one publishes every other day and another has been silent for half a year, the second does not so much inform as promise something it fails to deliver. A reader goes in and finds a single text from months ago.

Removal would settle it, but removal breaks addresses — and an address, once sent, lives a life of its own in other people's bookmarks, other people's messages and search results. So what arrived was hiding, not deletion.

A hidden series disappears from the navigation, from the list of series on the home page, from the stream, from the feed, from the sitemap and from the offline bundle. Its own address keeps working and shows everything it holds. The distinction is practical: the series stops inviting without ceasing to exist for those who already know it.

Technically one list decides. The stream, the feed, the sitemap and the offline bundle all draw their entries from the same place, so the filter needed to be set there once; the series' own index takes a separate path and sees its entries unchanged. Were those two paths one, hiding a series would also empty its page — and then it could not be called hiding.

The field is an ordinary series field and one word takes it back. A series that grows some material comes out of hiding with no migration and no change of address.
